Mwagusi Safari Camp: is situated in Ruaha National Park, Tanzania’s largest National park situated in the southern circuit of Tanzania. This well-established camp was started in 1987 and is an expression of the unwavering love and passion of its owner Chris Fox for the Tanzanian bush, its wildlife and its people.
Started initially as a temporary fly-camp, Mwagusi has grown and developed over the years into a uniquely designed camp with a friendly and peaceful atmosphere. Each element of the camp has been carefully thought-out and designed to be original, unique and different from any other, with personal touches and a close attention to detail.
The camp is built almost entirely from organic natural materials with guests being treated to a “unique” tented safari experience. Each en-suite tent is comfortably secured under a cooling thatched roof and nestled snuggly into the sandy banks of the Mwagusi River.
Mdonya Old River Camp: For people wanting the true bush experience, this small camp with only tented structures fits naturally into the surroundings.
The tents are scattered in a spacious area under the shade of large sycamore figs and Faidherbia albida, nestled in the curving banks of a sand-river. They are traditional safari tents, comfortably furnished with double or twin beds and with large verandahs where one can relax and observe the wildlife around.
Set amongst shady vegetation on a sand river in a relatively remote sector of the reserve, this simple tented camp comprises simple open-sided public areas and traditional style guest tents with external bathrooms. Since game tends to move up and down the track of the old river, this tends to be quite a busy camp, with elephant, impala, vervet monkeys, buffalo and even lion being regular visitors. Safari activity is presently limited to daytime gamedrives. Whole day excursions with picnic lunches enable access to more distant corners. Mdonya River Camp is a straightforward affair, offering small-camp intimacy and modest levels of service at very competitive prices
This camp manages to conjure up a really authentic safari atmosphere that both we and our guests always seem to appreciate.
